TaylorMade’s Hi-Toe wedge lineup has been expanded to include a full range of wedge lofts from 50° to 64°. These clubs will feature full-face scoring lines in 56° – 64° and standard scoring lines in the 50° – 54° wedges. Each Hi-Toe wedge has expanded to deliver performance whether you’re taking full swings on your approach or playing finesse shots around the green. There are 2 new soles that certain wedges will have, the standard sole and the 4-way sole, along with the previous ATV grind.
Before we get into the new addition to the line. What makes this Hi-Toe wedge so great that TaylorMade wanted to expand the line? These wedges are built to add versatility to the golfer’s greenside play. The Hi-Toe is designed for control over a variety of short-game shots and conditions. The higher toe helps create a higher, more central, CG location that helps give shots a lower launch with more spin to boost control.
When you look at the TaylorMade Hi-Toe wedges the groove and pattern on the sole set the wedge apart from any other wedge on the market. The grooves on this wedge are extended all the way to the toe of the face. These are called full-face scoring lines, which allows more versatility and spin on shots around the green. It allows players to open the face or close it without sacrificing any spin. On the underside of the club, you’ll see that there are three small areas where weight has been removed. This helps to raise the CG as well on the club and further provides higher spin rates on all shots.
Standard Sole (50°, 52°, 54°)
All-purpose grind that is perfect for the full approach shots into the green. This sole is well suited for both normal and soft tuff condition. The Standard sole has a more traditional face when the grooves do not go all the way across the face. Even with the standard sole, the Hi-Toe is still very different from the Milled Grind wedge. The Hi-tToe has a slightly different grind with more heel relief and may play as a slightly lower bounce compared to the original Milled Grind Wedge.
4-Way Sole (56°, 58°, 60°)
The new 4-way is a cambered sole with a mid-bounce design of 10°. The leading edge has less belly with a more blunt form. This new sole has an increased trailing edge and heel relief, great for players with average or steep swings from normal turf to softer sand.
ATV Grind (58°, 60°, 64°)
The ATV (All-Terrain Versatility) is a channel-cut mid-sole with a bounce of 12°. The V-shaped leading edge moves through the turf and sand more seamlessly for better control.
TaylorMade has made sure that the sole grind in the Hi-Toe provides optimal heel and toe relief which will allow players to make more consistent and solid contact no matter what ground conditions they are playing on.
